From Our Members

"Of all the things that I did lately, joining NAWBO has been a great decision.  What a fantastic group of women who are all there to help each other.  In today's business climate, that is not what I am used to."
Kelley Huff, President, Enchanted Acres Farm, Inc.

ATHENAPowerLink® Program

NAWBO Chapters in Philadelphia, South Jersey and Delaware have joined together to bring the ATHENAPowerLink® program to the Delaware Valley. This combined effort is an exciting first for NAWBO Chapters nationwide, and represents a significant opportunity for our members and all women business owners. This new entity will be called ATHENAPowerLink®NAWBO® Delaware Valley Region. And yes, it's a mouthful - but it speaks volumes about our commitment to the long-term success of women business owners in the region.

The ATHENAPowerLink® Program operates under the auspices of the ATHENA International, an international non-profit entity dedicated to creating leadership opportunities for women. ATHENA International works with hundreds of organizations, including NAWBO, chambers of commerce, universities, major corporations and small businesses, to implement its programs.

The ATHENAPowerLink® program is based on the original "PowerLink" program started in Pittsburgh in 1992 by two local businesswomen who saw a need for mentoring panels to help women owned businesses. Recognizing the benefits of this type of mentoring and the success rate of the program, the ATHENA International acquired the rights in 1998.

ATHENAPowerLink® "links" women business owners with a panel of advisors recruited to meet the specific needs of her business.  Panel members work with the owner at no charge for one year to assist her in meeting her business objectives. The program is now in 23 regions, and continues to expand.

The Panel helps women-owned businesses:

  • Develop and expand profitability
  • Explore new opportunities
  • Gain access to capital
  • Implement best practices
