From Our Members

"Of all the things that I did lately, joining NAWBO has been a great decision.  What a fantastic group of women who are all there to help each other.  In today's business climate, that is not what I am used to."

Women’s Financial and Health Demands — Answered

Register Now!

Experts from Fox Chase Cancer Center and White and Williams come together to help answer your questions about your health, demonstrate the healing powers of yoga and reiki, and provide insight into elder care.

Many people are faced with the challenge of simultaneously working or running a business and raising a family. Many women are now adding the complexity of caring for aging and/or home-restricted parents. This program has been designed to identify potential health issues facing women that are brought on by these additional stresses.

The Yoga and Reiki breakout sessions are two therapies being utilized by Fox Chase to reduce stress and improve health in their patients and the program will demonstrate how these modalities can help everyone.

The final break out session of this program will help women understand the requirements of elder care law and what alternatives a home care specialist can bring.

Risk Assessment – Main Area

Breakout 1 - Elder Care –William Hussey from White and Williams
Mr. Hussey will provide a brief overview of Elder Law, include retirement and estate planning.  An ever larger percentage of the U.S. population is reaching retirement, and life expectancies continue to grow longer as well.  Consequently, many families face an ever increasing burden of finding solutions to retirement and healthcare planning not only for themselves but other loved ones as well.  Mr. Hussey will describe the basic planning documents that every individual should have in place as they prepare for their golden years.  He will also discuss the various options for long term care, including home care, continuing care facilities and nursing homes.  Finally, he will explore the financial planning aspects of preparing for retirement that individuals are likely to face, including public and private arrangements that may be available to alleviate the financial stresses of long term care.

Breakout 2 – Jane Butler - Accessible Home Health Care
Many of us have aging parents and/or grandparents, an inescapable reality.  They’re a generation of proud Americans who have lived through Wars, The Depression, cooking with “Crisco”, and life without “electronics&rdquo. They are knowledgeable, loving, graceful, disciplined, stubborn, faithful, and now living longer and longer.

What we often see is a decline in their personal hygiene; they are not the housekeepers they used to be.  The idea of them driving scares you.  They eat frozen dinners or skip meals altogether.  They are forgetful and have become slightly “repetitive”.

According to them they don’t need professional help.  “I don’t need someone to help me, my daughter can do it” is a common statement.

This workshop will answer the question:  ”Now what? Mom/Dad refuse to accept help and I can’t do it all!!”  This workshop will give you practical steps to ensure the safety, independence, and happiness of those we love so much.
